Wedding Post Box

I had great fun making my wedding post box! Although I need to make sure I keep it kept well out of the way so it doesn't get damaged!!

I bought a flatpacked box from The Daisy May Collection and then used pearls, lace etc from ebay and the local market. I've purchased a blank guestbook which I'm going to decorate to coordinate with the post box.

Will post shortly....

Bunting part two!!!

Here is the next lot of bunting that I’ve managed to get done….I didn’t realise just how much bunting I was going to need to decorate the venue - I need to get cracking to make lots more!

I couldn’t find quite the right material so in the end, I bought a kids quilt cover which was perfect and much cheaper than buying all the material separately as it only cost £8 and I made 6 meters from just one pillowcase!

Wedding Money Saving Tips!

Tips for a budget wedding!!

• Buy your dress ‘off the rail’ or try sites like preloved, Oxfam Bridal etc

• Decorate your own cake

• Consider getting married on any day other than a Saturday (can work out half the price at some venues)

• Make your own wedding stationary

• If its possible, get your make up done that morning in a department store (maybe just buy the lipstick for throughout the day/evening)

• Buy bridesmaid/flower girl dresses from high street stores or the internet – just as lovely and much cheaper than bridal shops!!

• Book your honeymoon last minute to get a bargain (if you’re not too fussy of exactly where you go)

• Ask about if there are any friends who could do part of your wedding as their ‘wedding gift’ – florists, cake makers, caterers, photographers etc or have a ‘wedding favour guest list’

• Check out all the sales!!

• Good quality flowers can also be found on the market

• If your using a venue without a drinks license, take advantage of free glass hire from supermarkets

• Last but not least……make as many of your decorations as you can yourself – it works out so much cheaper!!

Please feel free to submit any of your money saving tips x

Children's Wedding Activity Books

A great idea to keep kids entertained at weddings!

I’ve seen these for sale on wedding forums and eBay but shanbritedesigns.com allow you download them for free – brilliant!! I’ve downloaded them and used bits from each and am going to personalise them for each child and print onto some pretty paper. The site also has free clipart downloads, fonts etc – anything free has gotta be good!!

Get Creative...

After making the invitations, I’m now getting round to printing inserts (yes, delayed I know!!). I’

I’m still undecided on what sort of paper to go for – I’m currently decorating my wedding post box and am also going to decorate a guest book to match so I may try to think of a way of coordinating them all…then there’s the order of service booklets….hhmmmm the DIY list is endless!!

Scrapbooking Mad have some great wedding craft papers (as below) decoupages, backing paper etc and what’s even better is that they have free clipart and card making downloads.....something to think about for my thank you cards!!

If you’re thinking of designing and printing your own wedding stationary etc, there are lots of sites offering free wedding clipart and templates.

Here are a few that I found on Google images…

Bunting...

Ok so I've finally made some bunting.....

The fabric was from eBay and the local market and I made this cutting out triangles using pinking shears - after cutting out a triangle out of cardboard to use as a template. I then stuck the top of the flag over the ribbon using copydex glue, leaving a 3 inch gap inbetwen each flag.

I plan to make some more bunting (double sided this time) using floral and patterned fabrics in similar colours with a more vintage feel.

Will post on here as soon as its finished!!

Shabby Chic Inspiration...

My theme took a while to develop – I started off going for fuchsia pink and lime green with modern feel but as time went on, I totally fell in love with shabby chic! Whilst I was trawling the internet for inspiration, I found myself drawn to every thing shabby chic, the style, the colours etc.

Here are some inspiration boards that I picked up along the way from google images….they have really helped when I’ve been trying think of ideas for everything that I have been making and plan to make for the wedding, such as invitation, decorations etc …

Centrepieces

Well I really am stuck for choice on this one. Centrepieces are something that I have been thinking about for months as I just cannot make my mind up what to go for!! There are so many beautiful centrepieces that are easy peasy to make yourself using fresh or artificial flowers, fruit, candles, vases, jam jars, plant pots, the list is endless.

Here's a few of my favourites to fit with my shabby chic theme....

You and Your Wedding is a great place to look out for mirror plates, vases, etc that people are selling after their wedding, I must admit I'm on there all the time looking out for bargains and have picked up a few from the lovely ladies on there!

Please feel free to send in images of your DIY centrepieces!!

Have a lovely weekend x

Just a quick one...

Ok so this isn't strictly a complete DIY decoration but just a quick, simple and cheap way of customising your wedding decorations.  The white hearts were about £1.20 each from ebay and the foam flowers (I put a pink one on one side and a white one on the other side) were around £2 for a bag - another bargain decoration!!

Apologies that the pic's aren't too brilliant but just to give you an idea.....
